This summer, Taunton town centre is set to come alive with colour, creativity and community spirit as the Taunton Town FC Lion Trail 2026 arrives in the heart of the town.
Created to celebrate the excitement of the Football World Cup, the trail will see 48 individually painted lions displayed in shop windows and local businesses across Taunton. Each lion represents one of the countries taking part in the World Cup finals, creating a fun and engaging town centre trail for families, football fans and visitors to enjoy throughout the summer.
A Summer Trail for the Whole Family
From 1 June 2026, families will be able to follow the trail map around Taunton town centre, spotting the lions as they go. The trail will stretch across key areas of the town, from Taunton Station to East Reach, and from Bath Place to the Independent Quarter, encouraging visitors to explore the town, support local businesses and enjoy a memorable day out.
The lions are being painted by talented art students from local schools and colleges, bringing creativity, personality and local pride to each display. The trail will remain in place until mid August, giving families plenty of time to take part during the warmer months and school holidays.
Spot the Lion at Centenary Lounge Taunton

We are located at Taunton Railway Station opposite the Great Western Hotel and you don’t need a train ticket to visit us, we also have a great outdoor seating area for alfresco dining. Supporting Local Creativity and Community
The Lions Trail brings together local schools, colleges, businesses, Taunton Town Football Club and the wider community. At the end of the trail, the lions will be auctioned at a charity football match, with proceeds going to the Barnaby Webber Foundation.
